Oh Yes, its OHNO!Posted on February 25th, 2010 @ 3:23 pm
//Edit: WTF?! Ayaw gumana ng lightbox ko.. I apologize if the pictures aren’t showing up in their usual manner, all fancy zooming in a grey box, will try to fix later// It’s actually working fine in different computer, just not the one im using right now.
I haven’t really been following the Winter Olympics in Vancouver like I used to when I first knew about it in 2002. Yes, I didn’t know there was winter olympics until I actually get to see a coverage on tv.
You can’t really blame me, can you? I came from a very humid country and back then, we (or actually, I, for that matter) only know about “the” olympics (Summer Olympics) in which they showcase all sports imagineable except for the ones done in the snow and/or ice.![]()
Anyway, back in 2002 when I was still working at a gas station, I remember gushing to my co-workers about this guy I saw on tv skating on ice like there was no tomorrow. His name was Apolo Anton Ohno. ![]()

He was always wearing a bandana over his helmet. And boy, he was fast! Then, the crazy-little-fangirl
in me emerged. Searched him on the internet. Read his bios and most news about him. Watched almost all his race during that time. After the olympics, I tried to watch all his apperances on different tv shows. I remembered him appearing on Rosie O’Donnell’s show where he was given a Saturn SUV. Yeah! Crazy, remember?
But after that, I forgot about Apolo Ohno. I didn’t even watched him when he joined the Dancing with the Stars and came on top as the champion and won that awful-looking dancing ball for a prize.![]()
Fast forward to today, Winter Olympics is once again being covered on TV. I’ve seen Ohno raced last night and I remembered how good he really was.
It was a short heat, 500 meters. Quarterfinals. There were 5 of them. I don’t know who he was competing with. I just recall he was trailing at the 3rd spot but as soon as he found that opening right about the final lap, he made his move and finished on top
. And if I remember it right, he likes this approach so much — outsmart his opponents at the finish. And it actually works most of the time.![]()
He may not be the greatest winter olympian yet
, but hey! He’s still, by far, the most decorated winter olympian with 7 medals dangling around his neck. Now that’s saying something right?! ![]()
And I think he’s still one the hottest icebunnies in the olympics.
Oh, and have you seen Sven Kramer (click his name and find out) yet? *drooling*![]()

The Weekend That WasPosted on February 17th, 2010 @ 2:50 pm
The long weekend’s over.
Going back to work is definitely a drag!
Anyway, we were able to do what was originally planned. Mejo late na lang kaming dumating dun and the lunch that was supposed to be ended up being a verrry late lunch slash early dinner.
As in around 4pm na ata kami nakakain. Seven Glaciers was ok. Siguro nawala na ung appetite ko kaya di ko na masyadong na-enjoy ung food (I ordered a King Crab mac and cheese) and all I can think of was make sure my tummy is filled.
Butttttt…. My dessert, the Baked Alyeska was divine!
Sobrang sarap nia talaga. It was a good way to end up a meal. Loved the ice cream inside.![]()
We were able to watch Valentine’s Day too!
Thank goodness it was just us girls though. Kase siguradong puro pula ang aabutin nung movie if our hubbys were with us. Like I said, it was a total chick-flick with extra mush and cheese on the side.
And like before, some of the scenes were predictable but I guess that’s just me.
Ang bilis kong mahuli ung plot nung movie. One thing I didn’t catch though, big shocker on Bradley Cooper’s character. Wow! But hey, it’s all good. He’s still hot! ![]()
Monday was uneventful except for the brunch we had with the same group of friends we were with at Alyeska. Sobrang katakawan na naman un.
Geez! All we ever do when we gather is either eat or spend money on eating. Aba, I already have a fat ass and now I’m broke too. We should think of something else to do na ha… Hahaha! But kidding aside, weekends
are the only time we get to have some fun here in Anchorage. It’s nice to have some friends you can hang out with. Maloloka ka, literally, if you’re by yourself. Lalo na pag winter. ![]()
O sya, till my next post. I seriously need to revamp this blog to spice it up. Maybe add more links? Hmmm..
